Much gratefulness to all the folks who put together and maintain the Infinity Engine Structures Description Project.

What It Can't Do

What It Can Do

When you are in sight of enemies, click on the Party AI Off button above the Rest button in the lower right corner.  The Party AI will switch on, and your characters will move, attack, and cast spells according to the situation.  They will do this well enough that, IF you have chosen the correct spells for the encounter, and in some cases if you have correctly chosen whether to employ range weapons or whether your multiclasses should wear armor or not, you can finish the entire game without handling a single combat yourself, and without prebuffing for any fights.

Special Thanks

The scripts do not handle potions or items.  The characters are able to get through the game without them; if you wish to use a potion though you will need to do it for them manually.

Hiding in shadows, pick-pocketing, and Ranger abilities are not handled by the scripts.  Bard songs simply do not work while an AI script is running, even if you do click on the button yourself.  Druid shape-change and Paladin lay-on-hands do work, however.

How to Use

Run the game, and as soon as you have characters generated, open the character details screen, hit the CUSTOMIZE button, and then the SCRIPT button.  You will see a list of scripts available that come standard with the game.  The scripts you take from here as you renamed them will be available as well, listed as CUSTOM scripts. Choose the script corresponding to your character's class, and click the DONE button.

Download each file you wish to use with a character class and rename it to have a file name eight characters or less, followed by the extension .bs, for example iwdFtCl.bs for Fighter/Cleric, and place it in the /Scripts folder of your Icewind Dale installation.  If you do not yet own the game, you can purchase it and install it from Good Old Games.
